Ladygrace,
This triolet is beautiful, and very appropriate for the season.

Here goes......

Snowflakes delicately dance
in pretty dresses of white.

Floating in a sparkling trance
snowflakes delicately dance.

The landscapes they enhance
giving small children delight.

Snowflakes delicately dance
in pretty dresses of white.

Thanks Daniel,  I just might do that.  I am enjoying learning more about the different forms.  I've done a few and really think their discipline is quite helpful.  Now if only I can do Clementine (Norm's Lesson 3) ! Roll Eyes Lucy

I think you've chosen your two lines well, and I also believe you've selected an excellent vehicle in which to pour your distilled wisdom for the grandson!

Brava!

I think this one oughta be posted in one of the crit forums... both here and abroad!

Just had to give  this a try.

To A Grandson Just Turned Fifteen

Young man, you must not carry on this way,
You're hurt, bewildered, but you will not die.
Believe me, you will love again one day.
Young man,  you must not carry on this way.
Oh, yes, I know, her smile is like  a ray
of sun,  she's lovely as a butterfly . . .
Young man you must not carry on this way.
You're hurt, bewildered, but you will not die.

Alas, no date…

Alas, no date for my sweet lips to taste;
perhaps my life ain’t even worth a fig.
Those dromedary humps in arid waste…
allass… no date....  For my sweet lips to taste
unending liquid kisses, I’d shun haste
to reach oasis love… yes, those unchaste
attempts to grow a palm from but a twig…
alas, no date for my sweet lips to taste;
perhaps my life ain’t even worth a fig.

... and I know that it's a line 'too-long'  :lol:  I was even more impulsive back then than I am now! Shocked

Samantha Rocks

Sam’s got the deep solid soul
that’s beamish and bright in her eyes.
She’s loyal and rocks right into role.
Sam’s got the deep solid soul.
The sum of two hearts making whole
and it’s clear her star’s on the rise.
Sam’s got the deep solid soul
that’s beamish and bright in her eyes.

Heir to Falsies

Be glad you've teeth to brush and hair to comb;
beware the ogre who'd take both away.
So brush and comb before you leave your home;
be glad you've teeth to brush and hair to comb.
One day it could get shiny on your dome,
and you may bite on falsies ere you're gray.
Be glad you've hair to brush and teeth to comb;
beware the ogre who'd take both away.

My Strawberry Toothpast

Note: You know I am away in Seattle.  My grandchildren out here are home-schooled and I always teach them poetry when I come out here. Today I taught them the Triolet. So I am posting this for them (they are not quite at the age limit to belong to Poem Train...Alex and Molly (age 8 and 7) wrote this together after the lesson.

My Strawberry Toothpaste - A Triolet

I like my strawberry toothpaste.
I use it every night.
I must not brush in haste;
I like my strawberry toothpaste.
Without brushing, my teeth will waste,
And they'll be an ugly sight.
I like my strawberry toothpaste.
I use it every night.

Betwixt & Between

An angel of darkest gossamer sings
with velvet dress twirling betwixt & between
her bare feet step light, as the chill of earth stings
an angel of darkest gossamer sings

sweet filigree mine, what light your heart brings
your shadow path home is the sweet evergreen
an angel of darkest gossamer sings
with velvet dress twirling betwixt & between

Thanks for the refresher, Daniel.
Form follows dys-func-shen. Free of verse leaves many speech-less. Cheesy

Ill Triolet

I’ll try!  “Oh, let the lines just flow!”  you say.
That seems to work for you, but not for me.
Perhaps in time  I’ll write free verse; today
I’ll triolet  the lines. “Just flow!”  you say?
But how, without some form?  It feels okay
at times, but then I lose it.  Help me see!
“I’ll try; oh let the lines just flow!”  You say
that seems to work?  . . . for you, but not for me.
